WWBH BlogHop Photo Prompt – Wednesday Jan 09, 2013
This week We have Nicole Pyles at the wheel and as usual she's done an AMAZING job! Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with :-)
****************************************************************************************************
This is a little delayed, but we're back again for the weekly writing prompt! One of these days I will have stable internet access so I don't freak out so much. *sigh* Well, I can dream can't I?
Here are the wonderful entries from last week -
The Kindness of Youth by Heather Musk
Walking Home by Scott Taylor
Rainy Day at the Donut Shop by Tena Carr
Aren't they amazing???
Okay, and here is a reminder of the rules: 1) There will be one photo, and five words - both of those elements must be a feature in the brief story you create. 2) There is also a 500 word maximum. 3) You have until the next Wednesday to create your post. 4) When you have finished your post, come back here and link up below and let me (Or whoever your blog host is) know in the comments that you have done so! 5) We were going to tell you to not take this too seriously, but reconsidered it because we know full well that asking writers to write something means that they will take it seriously. So, take it seriously, but don't fret/panic/pass out/hyperventilate/lose sleep/run in fear over it.
And now here is the photo:
And the five words: engineer muscle spider race machine
Oh, this will be good, I know it.
Here's the link to submit your post when you're ready!

Random Topic Writing Challenge - Depression, PTSD, and a "glimmer of hope"
Actually, I'm not gonna pick a "random topic" today... Today what I'm
going to write about is Depression and about PTSD and the strength that
those of us who deal with (and maybe even struggle with) these things
have.
If you struggle with Depression/PTSD and you are reading this post, then you have shown to have much strength.... More than you may even be aware that you have. I don't mean to sound morbid, but a person can easily come up with a wide variety of ways to "off" themselves or take their own life. The fact that you are still here and still struggling on shows that you (or at least your sub-conscious) recognize that there is a reason for you to be alive on this earth and that you have the strength to hold on to that hope (no matter how small it is). It is this holding on to this hope that shows our strength. It shows your unwillingness to give up on life and to keep reaching for the next "tomorrow" and the next and the next.
As those of you who struggle with Depression and/or PTSD know, each day can be a struggle not to want to give up. Thankfully I don't have as much trouble as some, but it does run in my family - and my mom killed herself due to having Depression (as well as Bi-Polar Disorder, I believe). But all it takes is a small glimmer of hope to keep us reaching for "tomorrow" and the next and the next. Some people may need a bigger "glimmer of hope" than others, but as long as there is that glimmer of hope we'll keep reaching..... And if your among those who struggle with Depression and PTSD, Keep reaching for that "tomorrow" and the next and the next.... Don't Give Up!!! Don't Give In!!! Keep holding on and being strong.

Daily Prompt: "Stroke of Midnight" - Quiet Night At Home
"Where were you last night when 2012 turned into 2013?"
I was sitting at my computer following a special New Year's Eve Quasi-Tweetalong with the Arlington Police Department on twitter (@ArlingtonPD). I call it "quasi" because it wasn't actually one of their normal "Tweetalongs" which happen about once every couple weeks to a month (depending). I have a lot of fun following along on these and have been doing so since sometime early this year (I want to say right around February or March). If you want to see what a "Tweetalong" is like check out the DFWAlerts Blog under Tweetalongs
In addition to the Tweetalong, I was also listening to 1-Union-801 The WebCast on Blog Talk Radio. The show usually "airs" every other Saturday, but they were doing a New Year's Eve Special "Around the Kitchen Table"
Me and my husband "rang in" the New Year with a bowl of ice-cream topped with syrup (chocolate-york for him & Dr. Pepper & Root Beer for me); Along with a glass of some sort of pear juice drink (I think that's what it was - don't remember now & bottle is gone) mixed with some lemon-lime twist. Of course earlier in the night I had also had some of my Swiss Chocolate Almond Coffee
"Is that where you wanted to be?"
Hell Yeah!!!! Was looking forward to the Tweetalong and the "Around the Kitchen Table" show for several days before they occurred. Can't think of much else I'd rather be doing. I know a lot of people probably enjoyed going out and partying (or maybe even having a big (or little) party at their house, but for us a quiet night at home is the most enjoyable thing we can think of.

Blog Hop Photo Prompt Reveal - Rainy Day at the Donut Shop
Aerial, Fare, Rain, Sale, Profit
"Ughhh,
look at that rain" Monika complained as she re-arranged the assortment
of donuts in the display case for about the fiftieth time that day,
Monika. There didn't seem to be anything better to do. She'd already
wiped down all the counters and cleaned the backroom - twice. All the
donuts had been finished and the outgoing orders had been filled &
delivered. In fact the driver had gone home hours ago.
When
Monika had arrived into work that morning, her boss (and best friend)
had warned her that it would be a busy day due to the aerial
show taking place that weekend. Munchkin Donuts, Where Monika worked,
was also offering the choice of an all day - allzone bus fare
or a $5 gas card with the purchase of two dozen donuts. Unfortunately
one of the other workers who was suppose to be coming in that day had
had to call in because her daughter had come down with the flu, so it
was only going to be Monika and her boss working today along with the
baker (who had also left a few hours earlier after he'd finished with
the baking.
Steady rain
had been falling since early afternoon and the influx of customers they
had that morning had begun to trickle till there was hardly anyone
coming in the door. The morning had started out pretty good and sales
had been high, which was a good thing because they were definitely
falling this afternoon. At present her boss was in the back working on
paperwork for the nights deliveries.
"Look"
Monika's boss (who had just come up front from the back office) stated,
"The rain's stopped. Just then a whole bunch of customers came through
donut shop's doors. "Maybe now we make a profit huh?!" He replied as
he took the first customer in line.

WWBH BlogHop Photo Prompt - Wednesday Jan 02, 20123
WOOO HOOOO!!! Our first Blog Hop of the Year!!! Time to get that creativity mojo in the groove!! So this week Carrie from Chasing Revery
This past month, we only had one story entry from a new visitor - Everyone else has won our ad prize already, or are ineligible due to blog host status.
That's not going to keep us from choosing a winner, though, no way!
Scott Taylor, it's yours!
Congratulations, and thank you so much for your dedication to our writing prompts. We are grateful for you and everyone else who makes the time to not only check us out, but who participate and share your skills. (Gosh, I hope that grammar was right. Moving on ...)
So, unless otherwise asked, we will be posting up the same button from your previous win starting next week.
And yay for me, I just realized I get the first prompt of the New Year! Now, this is quite an honor. Let's see what my internet scrubbing can find.
Rules:
1) There will be one photo, and five words - both of those elements must be a feature in the brief story you create.
The photo, to suit my mood:

Oh - And make sure to grab a blog hop button if you're loving the prompts!
